The Chinese Zodiac Has Twelve Signs
There is an old folk story that describes how animals were assigned to the cycle of years. A long time ago, Lord Buddha summoned all the animals together in order to assign each of them a year. When the cat heard the news, he told his friend the rat. The next day, these two animals decided to go to the summon together. However, the rat did not wake up the cat who loved to nap and sleep through the entire morning. Therefore, the cat did not arrive at the summon on time and did not get a year. This is the reason that a year of the cat does not exist and cats' hatred towards rats.
